According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma players want Edin Dzeko to take the captain armband back, but the club have rejected the request.
The former Manchester City striker was stripped of the captaincy in January amid tense relationship with coach Paulo Fonseca.
The Bosnian trained separately from the rest of the group at the end of January when he was reportedly close to joining Inter in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez.
Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto confirmed on February 3 Dzeko was no longer the Roma captain.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, Roma players want the striker to get the armband back.
The requests has arrived also from Lorenzo Pellegrini who is expected to become the new Roma captain.
The club have rejected the player’s request, but Dzeko could start against Udinese on Sunday.
The Bosnian returned to the Roma squad list against Juventus last weekend, but started the Allianz Stadium clash on the bench, entering the pitch in the second half to replace Borja Mayoral.
