Manchester City target De Bruyne should stay at Wolfsburg – Dzeko

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are keen to sign the Belgian playmaker from the Bundesliga club but the striker feels he would be best served by remaining in Germany for another season

Eden Dzeko believes that Manchester City target Kevin De Bruyne could benefit from another season at Wolfsburg.

The Belgium international helped the Bundesliga side to a second-placed finish in 2014-15, along with a DFP-Pokal win, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances, and his form has attracted interest from the Premier League giants.

Goal understands that City are waiting on the outcome of De Bruyne’s contract talks with Wolfsburg before launching a bid, but Dzeko, who made the switch from Wolfsburg to the Etihad Stadium in 2011, says that De Bruyne may be best served by remaining in Germany.

“Top players like Kevin De Bruyne won’t stay at Wolfsburg forever,” Dzeko told Kicker.

“Everybody dreams of one day playing for a leading international club. It was the same with me after we won the league in 2009 — I had the desire to do something different.”

He added: “Kevin has an advantage. Through his time at Chelsea he knows the Premier League and knows that it’s completely different.

“A lot of players who excelled in other leagues have had problems here – take Angel Di Maria.

“I’m certain that [Kevin] has what it takes to play for one of the top clubs in Europe but he’s also aware that at these clubs there are 20 top players who always want to be on the pitch.

“Maybe it would also help him if he plays in the Champions League with Wolfsburg this season and takes another step in his development there.”

  1. I’m so excited about this match .I have just plecad a bet on the correct score which I predict would be . a 1-1 draw . I only plecad 3 units, but the odds are huge (7.50) and I think the probabilities are high. I used the odds provided by bookmaker.
