Inter are increasingly the favourites for Atalanta outcast Papu Gomez, with reports of a basic agreement with the player, but the clubs still need to negotiate.
Gomez is training separately from the rest of the team in Bergamo, suggesting even after the Christmas break, the issues with coach Gian Piero Gasperini have not been resolved.
While Milan, Roma, Napoli and several MLS clubs are interested, Inter remain the hot favourites.
According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, the Nerazzurri want him at the right price, which is much lower than the €15m asking price.
FCInterNews also report that Gomez has worked out basic terms with Inter, a contract to June 2023 worth €2.5m per season plus bonuses, but the two clubs have a very long way to go.
Money can be raised by selling Andrea Pinamonti, while youth team player Gaetano Oristano could also be included in the deal.
