Fonseca given touchline ban

Roma coach Paulo Fonseca has been handed a one-match ban for insulting the referee, so won’t be on the bench with Bologna.

The tactician was sent off at half-time during the 0-0 draw with Sassuolo, just after Pedro Rodriguez was shown the red card for two bookable offences.

The report from the Disciplinary Commission notes Fonseca “approached the referee with an aggressive air, proffering disrespectful words.”

Fonseca will therefore be in the stands for the next Serie A match against Bologna.

He will be joined there by Pedro, who received a one-match ban for his two yellow cards.
