According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma placed an €80m release clause in the new contract for defender Roger Ibanez.
The defender signed the deal today, tying him to the club until June 2025, an extension of one year compared to his previous contract.
However, there are significant differences, including a pay rise to €1.2m per season plus bonuses of up to €500,000.
More importantly, there is a release clause in the contract worth €80m.
This is said to be part of a new strategy introduced by general manager Tiago Pinto and owners the Friedkin family, giving Roma more control over transfer negotiations.
