Cristante: ‘Roma can do it all’

Bryan Cristante insists Roma’s objective is to ‘achieve both’ a top four finish and Europa League triumph after eliminating Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 2-1 win on the night in Kiev, 5-2 on aggregate, means the Giallorossi have secured four consecutive European victories in a row for the first time since 1990-91.

“We did well to control the game and in the second half the spaces opened up, allowing us to close the tie definitively,” Cristante told Sky Sport Italia.

Roma seem to perform better in Europe than in Serie A this season. Is there a reason for that?

“We know in Italy the teams are more tactically-prepared and stronger in defence, whereas there are more spaces in Europe.

“Now we have to win against Napoli this weekend, do our best and get right back on track after the setback in Parma.”

Roma now have two potential paths to a Champions League spot, either finishing top four in Serie A or winning the Europa League.

“The objective is to achieve them both. We have to go as far as possible in Europe, because we’ve proved that we can have our say at this level.”
