Insigne given fine and one-match ban

The Disciplinary Commission has given a one-match ban and a €10,000 fine for Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne after his sending off against Inter.

The Partenopei captain was sent off for his protests after Davide Massa awarded Inter the match-winning penalty at San Siro.

Insigne saw red after insulting the referee and has been given a one-match suspension in Serie A, along with a €10,000 fine. The Napoli forward reportedly apologised to the match official after the match.

Elsewhere, Hellas Verona player Antonin Barak has been suspended for three games for ‘violently hitting the knee of an opponent on the ground with a kick’.

Further one-match suspensions were given midfielder Pasquale Schiattarella, who was sent off at the end of Benevento-Lazio, and Torino man Wilfried Singo, for his double yellow against Roma.

Spezia’s Julian Chabot and Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli were awarded their fifth yellow card in Serie A Week 12 and must sit out the next round.

Locatelli will therefore not play against his former club Milan this weekend.
