Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has stated that Asmir Begovic is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, and has backed him to earn a move to a “bigger team” in the future.
The Bosnian striker is hoping to face his friend when the two sides meet on New Year’s Day, but admits that if he does start it will be a difficult match with the Stoke goalkeeper in “fantastic form”.
“I am hoping to play against Stoke, not only because I’m good in the air but because I can score goals,” Dzeko told reporters.
“It will be a tough game, especially against my good friend Asmir. He is in fantastic form.
“Stoke have the best keeper in the league. I knew him before he came to play for the national team.
“I know him better than most people because I have trained with him and [he] is a great keeper who will go on and play for a bigger team.”
Manchester City host Stoke on New Year’s Day, while title rivals Manchester United face a trip to Wigan, as they sit seven points clear at the top of the table.
